Thromboresistant Coatings

Hydromer® Thromboresistant Coatings

Any medical device inserted into the body has the potential to cause blood clots which can lead to thrombosis or an embolism. Hydromer’s thromboresistant coatings are “slippery-when-wet” and are non-leaching. This can reduce blood clotting when coming in contact with medical devices, which can lead to atrial fibrillation, strokes, or even heart attacks. By reducing the adherence of blood to the surface of the device, thromboresistant coatings dramatically improve patient safety and clinical outcomes while also extending the lifetime of the product.
