Dynaflex®
Term: Dynaflex®
Category: Substrate
Definition: Dynaflex® is a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) developed from a proprietary blend of styrenic block copolymer (SBC) chemistry. As a result of its excellent balance of rubber and thermoplastic like flexibility, Dynaflex provides good resilience, clarity and ease of molding. Even though it is naturally hydrophobic, treatment methods using plasma surface treatment, primers, or hydrophilic coatings can alter the surface characteristics of the material for enhanced wettability, biocompatibility, and adhesion. This unique feature set makes Dynaflex an ideal candidate for use as a substrate for applications requiring the addition of coatings that impart lubricity, antimicrobial activity, or improved comfort to patients.
Structure:
A block copolymer composed of styrene blocks combined with rubbery or elastomeric blocks, providing both rigidity and elasticity.
Uses:
- Medical tubing, catheter components, grips and handles
- Seals, flexible connectors, overmolded device parts, and coated components requiring softness, elasticity, and enhanced surface functionality.
