Staying Safe During the Holidays

Hydromer offers best practices to keep you and your family safe during the holiday!

This year has been quite a year and we are ALL ready for things to get back to some form of normalcy. With the flu and cold season already here, and the Coronavirus still looming, Hydromer® has some tips to help keep your family safer during the holidays.

Our first piece of advice is to stay sanitized. Washing your hands can be one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of germs. We do not realize we touch a lot of things throughout the day. If you really think about what we touch, its everything from high traffic door handles, to our cell phones, and yep, you guessed it, our faces. The spreading of germs through hand contact is one of the most common ways people get sick. The CDC references that, “Handwashing with soap could protect about 1 out of every 3 young children who get sick and almost 1 out of 5 young children with respiratory infections like pneumonia.”1 When hand washing is not available or you encounter high traffic areas, use sanitizers like Hydromer® HydroProtect® Hand Sanitizer and our First Responder® Sanitizer Spray. This will effectively kill up to 99.9% of germs on hands and surfaces, keeping you safer.

The next thing you and your family can practice is social distancing and wearing your mask, when it is appropriate. We all know that the holidays mean family and friends gather to celebrate joyous occasions. We suggest you keep your gatherings to immediate friends and family only. Try not to invite any extra people, if you do not have to. We are not saying you cannot be with family, just make sure you know them very well, so you can ensure that they do not have COVID, flu, or cold symptoms. Asking before you gather is acceptable! So, do not be afraid to safeguard your family. After all you and your family are the most important part of the holiday!

Lastly, as an option to better protect you and those around you is to get vaccinated. Although we are a medical company, we absolutely respect everyone’s opinions about getting vaccinated. We are not saying you MUST get them. Whether you get vaccinated or not, is up to you, but the science behind the vaccine is abundant and can vastly reduce infection rates that may cause death.

There are many other things that can help keep your family safe as well, like eating outside versus inside, traveling by car to your destination instead of flying, marking everyone’s cups with their names, so there is no accidental sharing, etc. Because Hydromer® cares about you and your family, we hope we have been able to offer some helpful advice to staying safe this year. The CDC has also put out a list of things you can do to help slow the spread of germs, as well, just click HERE for more. We hope your family has a safe and wonderful holiday.
